April Fools 2004 was the first officially celebrated April Fools on Gaia. The admins took the opportunity to play a variety of pranks on users, causing gold counts to show as billions higher than they should be and releasing flying blue giftboxes that exploded in the user's face. Getting one of these giftboxes made the user's face turn black, a condition known as 'sootface.' Some enterprising users found that if a box was opened with a deleted avatar, the result was a unique glitch that came to be called the Invisibob. The Invisibobs were the longest-lasting record of this event, only vanishing during the massive avatar reset of late 2005.
